Inside Our Living Catalogue
Safariquvelio is an independent, non-commercial digital compendium committed to documenting the living collections, glasshouse engineering, and conservation work of the world’s botanical institutions.
Editorial Philosophy
In an era of rapid biodiversity loss, public botanical gardens are among humanity's most crucial scientific sanctuaries. Yet their work is frequently reduced to casual tourism or seasonal flower festival marketing. Safariquvelio exists to illuminate the plant behind the spectacle: connecting individual species to their evolutionary habitats, horticultural care, and the institutions preserving their germplasm.
Curatorial Standards
Every living specimen and institution cataloged on this site is assessed against five core standards:
- Taxonomic Accuracy: We adopt the botanical binomials endorsed by the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew's Plants of the World Online (POWO) and the International Plant Names Index (IPNI).
- Historical Provenance: We track architectural and institutional history using verified institutional records, architectural blueprints, and archival herbarium registers.
- Conservation Significance: Focus is given to taxa classified as Vulnerable, Endangered, or Extinct in the Wild under the IUCN Red List.
- Climatic Replicability: We examine the physical engineering—glazing systems, thermal heating, water filtration—required to sustain exotic organisms in foreign latitudes.
- Accessible Public Knowledge: Information is written clearly for attentive visitors, students, and horticultural enthusiasts without dumbing down biological complexity.
Institutional Transparency
Safariquvelio Botanical Archives operates independently as an educational resource. We do not accept promotional payments to prioritize specific botanical gardens or commercial nurseries. All evaluations and notes are produced under strict editorial neutrality.
"To study plants in a botanical garden is to read the living script of evolutionary adaptation across epochs."
